Peter Leckett has lived in and around the Ottawa Valley for most of his life. A scientist by training and a software engineer in practice, Peter has always considered himself a serious amateur artist. Since retiring he has turned to painting full time. Over the years, he has consistently developed his painting and figurative skills. He has been elected into the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour (CSPWC) and the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA), and the Ontario Society of Artists (OSA). Since joining the gallery in 2020 his works have been especially well-received by our visitors; you can view examples that have sold at the gallery.
An outdoor enthusiast, landscape seemed a natural choice of subject matter and the step to plein air painter a logical progression; this summer he will be participating in the Parrsboro Plein Air Festival. His dog, Poppy, typically accompanies him on his outdoor painting sessions.
Electric Street Gallery is very pleased to bring you this special exhibition of Peter's rural landscape paintings.
