"There is a low viewpoint in my paintings that suggests a vantage point from water. This is because I have spent a lot of time canoeing and kayaking in Algonquin Park and in Canadian shield country. The scenes that attract me the most are ones I see from a canoe. The viewpoint from water to shore enchants me. I would like for myself and the viewer to be able to enter the painting and to wander in the feeling of that space." - karen whyte
